Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (or ITIN) is an US tax processing number issued by the IRS. It is a 9 digit number that begins with the number 9 and has a 7 or 8 in the fourth digit place. IRS issues ITIN to individuals who are required to pay tax but do not have a Social Security Number or those who are not eligible to have SSN. ITIN are issued regardless of immigration status as both resident and nonresident aliens may have to make federal tax returns. Individuals must have a filing requirement and file a valid federal income tax return to receive an ITIN.
Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is required to claim a personal exemption for spouses and/or dependent children. We at mytaxfiler help you with your ITIN applications that is the Form W-7. ITIN are for federal tax reporting only. An ITIN does not authorize work in the U.S. or provide eligibility for Social Security benefits or the Earned Income Tax Credit.
